About the Research Project

The selected candidate will work on the project:

“Genetically Engineered Macrophage Microvesicles Carrying Human β-Defensin-2 for Targeted Treatment of Uropathogenic E. coli in Diabetic Bladder Infections”

The project aims to investigate:

  • Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs) in diabetic patients
  • Role of macrophages in antimicrobial defense
  • Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs)
  • Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs)
  • CRISPR-based gene regulation
  • Novel therapeutic approaches to combat antibiotic resistance

The project is being led by Dr. Soumitra Mohanty at NIBMG, Kalyani.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must possess any one of the following qualifications:

Essential Qualification

  • Four-year Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences

OR

  • Master’s Degree in Biological Sciences

OR

  • B.Pharm

OR

  • BVSc

OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Technology, or Medicine from a recognized institution.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should have qualified through any one of the following:

National Eligibility Tests

  • CSIR-UGC NET
  • GATE

National-Level Examinations Conducted By

  • DST
  • DBT
  • DAE
  • DOS
  • DRDO
  • Ministry of Education (MoE)
  • ICAR
  • ICMR
  • IITs
  • IISc
  • IISER
  • NISER

and other equivalent government agencies or institutions.


Desirable Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates having experience in:

  • Mammalian Cell Culture
  • Bacteriological Techniques
  • Molecular Biology
  • Gene Cloning
  • CRISPR-mediated Cell Line Generation
  • qPCR
  • Western Blotting
  • Wet Lab Techniques

Candidates having experience handling pathogens such as:

  • Staphylococcus aureus
  • Pseudomonas aeruginosa
  • Mycobacterium tuberculosis

will be preferred.


Salary

Selected candidates will receive:

₹37,000 per month + 30% HRA

Candidates who do not qualify under the prescribed national eligibility examination criteria may be considered at:

₹30,000 per month + 30% HRA

subject to suitability and availability.


Job Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Full-time laboratory research work
  • Experimental data generation
  • Data analysis
  • Scientific documentation
  • Assisting in ongoing laboratory projects
  • Performing experiments assigned by the Principal Investigator (PI)

The position requires active participation in research activities and project execution.
